Cinematic adapatation of Rupam Islam’s music album to premiere soon
Son of Adam is a cinematic adaptation of Rupam Islam's movie album Aami. The album was launched in 2025, and it is Rupam's first collaboration with guitar maestro Amyt Datta. Going against the recent trend, the album was released as a physical dvd album and was not available on the digital platforms. In spite of that, the album made record sales in the book fair of 2023. However due to the pandemic physical sales had to be stopped and the album was uploaded onto the digital platforms & 5g.
The album contains several hit songs including Adomer Shant, Am Jai, Boi Chor. The film's title is taken from the song Admar Shontan and revolves around a personified primitive man who is confused by the duality of innocence and experience.

The film features eight songs from the album (written, composed and sung by Rupam with Amit Dutt on guitar) and is the foundation on which the narrative evolves. Screenplay and screenplay written by director Amartya Bhattacharya. Rupam Islam and Amit Dutt appear in very interesting cameos which are important in the context of the screenplay.
Son of Adam will soon have its world premiere at the prestigious 77th Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Salerno 2023 (77th Salerno International Film Festival) in Italy. Running from November 27th in the Italian city of Salerno, this festival is one of the oldest film festivals that started in 1946 and its inaugural edition featured such masters as Vittorio De Sica, Rossano Brazzi, Adriana Benetti, Maria Merceder and Marilla Lotti. Son of Adam, which is in the Feature Film Competition (Lungometragi) will be screened on the night of December 1.

Rupam Islam, the inspiration behind the film, said, "Amartya wrote a script inspired by Aamir's song and narrated it to me. It felt unique and different in many ways. It was a very unconventional approach. We worked together, and I could see that the team was very emotional. was inspired by. I was surprised to see some amazing locations. Not just Kolkata, the film explores several beautiful locations across Andaman, Darjeeling and the western part of Odisha. The end result is very exciting. I think the film will deliver something very fresh and new. Not just the songs, but from the performances to the sound design, this is a must film.
Director Amartya who is a longtime fan of Rupam expressed his happiness - "I have been following Rupam Islam's work since my school days. Never thought that I would be lucky enough to be a part of such a collaboration. Thanks enough to him for trusting me." .
